An opportunity is a lead for which you've obtained 12 months of utility bills, so that our expert team can review and analyze for estimated ROI. This is then quoted.

ADJUSTMENTS
After reviewing the "quick quote" with the client and discussing any mitigating factors, we determine whether we can move forward and if so, what adjustment do we need to make. In short: we do our due diligence on each opportunity.
FINAL PROPOSAL WITH LOI
After assessing the site and making any adjustments to the initial quote, we will finalize the design, costs, and incentives for the construction project. At this stage, we collect a non-binding LOI and earnest deposit for the next steps.
CONSTRUCTION AGREEMENT
Next, we draft up the construction agreement that outlines the full scope of work, including the build partner's responsibilities, the client's required input, costs and draw milestones, and construction schedule.
Partner ALLOCATIONS
At this point, we allocate all necessary resources for the job: the installer, products (panels, inverters, racking), finance options, and any additional project-specific needs.

If financing is required for the project, we support the client in the application process, including writing any grants or connecting with tax experts to take advantage of government incentives. On approval, 10% down payment is provided.
PERMIT APPROVAL
Once the final design and engineering is approved by the local utility and AHJ, we bill the next 50% and get to work.
INSTALLATION
The fun part: boots on the ground. Our build partner constructs the project and on substantial completion, the next 35% of the project is paid out.
INSPECTION
The final stretch. Our team dots all Is and crosses all Ts, ensuring the system is inspected, approved by the local authorities, and ready to switch on!

The system begins producing power, the final payment of 5% is submitted, and we continue to support and educate the client on how it works as time unfolds.

What is Surge, exactly?
Surge is a platform that provides a process for solar sales pros to sell C&I scale energy solutions. Our pros bring their C&I leads to our pipeline, we quote and help close them, and we select vetted EPCs from our network for each job.
We built this platform because most residential sales reps are not able to sell commercial – whether it's because they're not trained in the nuances of the commercial sector or their EPC or sales network only does residential – and because most large-scale EPCs & installers struggle to generate consistent high-quality opportunity in a cost-effective way.
As a rep with Surge, for a minimal annual subscription, you can submit your commercial leads into our pipeline, get a preliminary quote within 24-72 hours (including an estimated commission), and work with trusted installers and financiers nationwide. On top of that, we create transparency and training for all our pros: track your projects' progress in your Surge pipeline, hop on weekly trainings and masterminds with experienced mentors, and earn higher commissions than you have in B2C sales.
As an EPC with Surge, for a minimal one-time sign up fee, you can access an endless supply of qualified (and typically already-closed) C&I projects, pick and choose your "sweet spot" opportunities, set and maximize your margins, and close more revenue than ever before without the hassle of hiring a huge sales team, buying leads, or running online ads.
Can I invite my team & earn revenue share on their deals?
Absolutely! We encourage all Surge users to invite their existing team members or partners. If you're a rep, bring your EPCs; if you're an EPC, bring your fellow installers and reps! Here's why. If you invite new users to the Surge platform, you are then linked us as their sponsor. As sponsor, you'll earn fully passive revenue share on every deal they close, even if you never touch the deal yourself.
Are there any hidden fees or charges on the software?
Not one. It's just $497/year if you're a sales rep. It's currently $997 one-time if you're an EPC or contractor.
How do we get paid commission, as reps?
Pro members earn up to 70% commission on Surge's deal mark-up. We say "up to" because you close your first three projects with the support of a more experienced Surge mentor, to ensure you're successful with us as quickly as possible. Those commissions are split with your mentor to honor the time and energy they're putting into your deals. After three wins, you're able to sell on your own, or you have the option to continue working with mentors in our community and negotiate split percentages with them directly.
You will be aware of your total commission on each deal during its proposal phase, and you'll be able to accept or work with our team to revise proposals based on the finances presented. Once a deal is under LOI, prior to sending out a final, binding contract to the client, Surge does a final numbers audit on the deal to confirm all numbers are correct with all parties involved.

As for how you get paid in a more practical sense, when you join Surge, you'll be added to our payroll system and asked to submit a W9 and add your direct deposit info. You'll then be paid commission at two key milestones on every deal – permits approved & installation completed.
How do we pay commission, as EPCs?
On each deal we present you, we put together what we call the "EPC Offer," meaning a range of what you could earn as profit based upon your rate and cost breakdown. We focus on ensuring that your minimum potential profit margin is still generous, but you can maximize your profit margin with efficiency (i.e. beat our collaborative cost calculations).
You will be required to submit the Surge markup on each deal during the development phase, at each core milestone. Once a deal is closed, prior to contract signatures, Surge does a final quality audit on the deal to confirm all numbers are correct with all parties involved.

As for how you will pay commissions in a more practical sense, when you join Surge, you'll be added to our ACH debit system and asked to add your direct debit info. You'll then be debited for the Surge markup at two key milestones on every deal – permits approved (20% of total) & installation completed (80% of total).
