John’s career has spanned corporate finance, nonprofits, and entrepreneurship, but a consistent theme has guided his work: developing people.
“I’ve spent much of my career in leadership development—whether in corporate finance, nonprofits, or business. What I bring to Surge is the ability to empower people: to see their strengths, call out their blind spots, and help them become the best version of themselves. My passion is organizing teams so everyone finds their place and purpose.”

While deals and growth are part of every company’s success, John sees the next 12 months as a chance to build something deeper.
“Of course we need to close deals, but as Chief People Officer, I’m most excited about people. We’re about to break through barriers, bring on incredible new team members, and keep getting better every week. If each of us works in our place of giftedness, there’s no stopping us.”
For John, success is about alignment: when people operate in their strengths, the whole team wins.

Beyond the Office: Global Roots and Family First
There’s much more to John than his professional journey. His story began in the Democratic Republic of Congo, and to this day he carries that adventurous spirit with him.
“I grew up in the Democratic Republic of Congo and love driving anything with wheels—especially motorcycles. Outside Surge, my biggest joy is time with my family: my kids, grandkids, traveling, or just making memories together.”
For John, family and experiences are what fuel his energy and perspective.
